School Environmental Health and Asthma Collaborative (SEHAC)

The California School Environmental Health and Asthma Collaborative (SEHAC) is comprised of government, education and non-profit organizations assembled to increase the K–12 school community's awareness of the importance of addressing indoor air quality and asthma issues. To serve your needs, we've developed Asthma QuickTakes, a series of 3- to 5-minute training videos on asthma, created specifically for schools. Each QuickTake contains basic, useful asthma information and ready-to-use downloadable resources that will help you reduce the negative impacts asthma can have on student health, attendance and academic achievement.

This Emergency Response and Medication Self-carry Law QuickTake, teaches school staff how to recognize the symptoms of an asthma episode, including simple, step-by-step instructions on how to respond. It also provides information about the California asthma medication self-carry law and downloadable resources for teachers, school nurses, and other school personnel.

This Reducing Exposure to Indoor Asthma Triggers QuickTake, helps teachers and other school staff identify and reduce or eliminate asthma triggers in classrooms. It also provides downloadable resources that can be posted in the classroom.

This Reducing Exposures to Outdoor Asthma Triggers QuickTake, helps teachers and other school staff identify outdoor asthma triggers and steps they can take to reduce exposure to outdoor triggers without adversely impacting the students' physical activity needs. It also provides resources that can be used in the classroom and other school locations.
