Asthma Research Summit
California Breathing, a program within the California Department of Public Health, and the American Asthma Foundation hosted their first two-day summit highlighting the latest in asthma research on December 10-11, 2008 in San Francisco. The summit brought together a variety of asthma stakeholders to share and learn about the most current findings in asthma etiology, and identify gaps and future directions for research. The Summit was a great success with over 120 participants from around the country.
While many of the resesearchers presented not-yet-published work, we can share summaries of their presentations, giving an overview of each area of research. In the agenda below, we have created links to summary documents when available. We were unable to post a summary document for some presentations. We hope that by sharing the proceedings of the two day event, theories can be applied to better the health of people with asthma. We are also hopeful that new research will be initiated, filling in some of the gaps or futher exploring promising areas of study.
