California Conference of Local Health Officers

The membership of CCLHO includes the 61 legally appointed physician Health Officers in California, one from each of the 58 counties and the three cities of Berkeley, Long Beach and Pasadena.  CCLHO provides a state/local forum for the discussion of significant health issues in order to develop recommendations for appropriate health policy. 

Regional Asthma Management and Prevention Initiative (RAMP) Brings together local diverse partners to collaborate in reducing the burden of asthma. RAMP provides support to Ditching Dirty Diesel, a coalition of environmental health and justice organizations advocating to reduce neighborhood emissions from diesel vehicles.

Community Action to Fight Asthma An intiative that encompasses a diverse network of regional and local coalitions. CAFA is coordinated by RAMP and the National Latino Research Center.

The American Lung Association of California (ALAC) ALAC has regional offices located throughout California and has been involved in asthma management and prevention for many years, and is an active member of California Asthma Partners. www.californialung.org

Asthma and Allergy Foundation of America- California Chapter AAFA is dedicated to controlling asthma and llergic diseases through education, supporting medical research and training, increaseing piblic arareness and provifing medication and treatment to the underserved.

US EPA  The US EPA recently awarded the California Department of Public Health asthma programs with an Asthma Leadership Award.  California is the first state to be recognized for a comprehensive asthma program.  The EPA promotes the reduction of environmental asthma triggers and effective clinical care through its Communities in Action network.

 

Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) The CDC coordinates the National Asthma Program, by funding states and other organizations to implement state level strategic plans through cooperative agreements.
